Privacy policy
Written for what this site actually collects, which is very little.
Last updated 27 August 2026.
Who this covers
This policy covers asktheninja.com, operated by Chad Degenhardt, a licensed mortgage associate with Dominion Lending Centres, Maximal Mortgages. It does not cover the application portal at dlcapp.ca, which is operated by Dominion Lending Centres under its own privacy policy, and it does not cover any lender's own site you may be referred to.
What this site collects
Information you send deliberately. If you fill in the callback form, you provide your name, phone number, email address, a topic, a preferred day and time, and anything you type in the message box. That is used to answer your enquiry and nothing else.
Nothing from the calculators. The payment, affordability and penalty calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers you type are never sent anywhere, are not stored, and are not visible to Chad or to anyone else. Close the tab and they are gone.
Checklist ticks. If you use a checklist on one of the pages, the ticks are saved in your own browser's local storage so the page remembers them if you come back. That data stays on your device and is never transmitted.
Standard server information. The site runs on Shopify, which records ordinary technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, in the same way essentially every website does. Shopify processes this as our service provider.
What this site does not do
- No advertising trackers or retargeting pixels.
- No selling, renting or trading of your information, ever.
- No third-party fonts or scripts loaded from outside the site. The typefaces are self-hosted, so no font provider sees your visit.
- No video loads until you click play. Playing a video does load content from YouTube, and at that point YouTube's own privacy terms apply.
When information is shared
If you proceed with a mortgage application, your information is shared with the lenders being approached on your behalf, with default insurers where applicable, and with your lawyer and any appraiser involved in the transaction. That sharing is what makes a mortgage application work, it happens only with your consent, and you are told which lenders your file is going to.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law, or to the Real Estate Council of Alberta in connection with regulatory obligations.
How long it is kept
Enquiries that do not become applications are kept only as long as needed to answer them. Where a mortgage application proceeds, records are retained for the period required by Alberta mortgage brokerage regulation and by the brokerage's own compliance obligations.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information is held about you, ask for corrections, and withdraw consent for future contact at any time. Email chad.d@asktheninja.com or call 780-243-5124 and it will be actioned.
If you are not satisfied with how a privacy concern has been handled, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page rather than made quietly.
